Just a short drive over Bald Eagle Mountain from Williamsport lies Montgomery, a historic town along the Susquehanna River. Settled in 1771, Montgomery has been the site of a variety of industries in the past, most notedly furniture manufacturing. Today it is home to several large industrial employers in the manufacturing, apparel, plastics and food industries. Nearby White Deer Golf Course is a popular recreational destination for many area residents.
 
With a population of just 1,700 residents, Montgomery retains its small town charm while growing its economy with the expansion of nearby industrial developments.
