Additional Information

Boasting one of the most beautiful residential areas in the county, Muncy is a small town with a rich history dating back to its first settlers who came to the area over 210 years ago. Named for the Native American tribe who originally inhabited the area, Muncy played an important role as a fort in both the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Each year the Muncy Historical Society hosts its annual Historic Homes Tour, giving visitors a taste of Muncy's notable past.

Just 10 miles east of Williamsport, Muncy's location on the Susquehanna River allowed the town to benefit from Williamsport's lumber boom in the 1800's. Thriving sawmills, hotels, shops and restaurants sprung up to support the industry, some of which are still in business today.

Today, Muncy has nearly 2700 residents. Within the town there are several major industrial employers as well as the Muncy Hospital, a campus of Susquehanna Health System. Nearby lies the ever-expanding Lycoming Mall complex, which includes over 100 stores and shops with many more under construction. The friendly citizens of Muncy are proud of the town's rich heritage and look forward to its positive future.
